Bug Id: | CSCuy72404 | Title: | IP Address Returned to Pool After VM Crash or Shutdown Without Rollback |
|
Status: | Open |
|
Severity: | 6 Enhancement |
Description: | Symptom: Static IP addresses for a VM is returned to the IP address pool in UCSD.
Conditions: The issue is noticed if the IP address for the VM is not visible in vCenter. IP address is lost if the VM is powered off, suspeneded, OS is corrupted, Network corrupted etc.
Workaround: 1) If an IP address has been assigned to another VM, go into that VM's console and manually remove it from the VM. 2) If you have completed step 1, or if the IP address simply appeared as "available" in the IP pool once more, power on the original VM that held (or still holds) the IP address in its network settings. 3) Run a VMware Cloud Inventory in UCS Director's Administration > System > System Tasks. 4) Verify that the IP address no longer appears available in the IP pool
